There will be five regular season meets this season and the Meet of Champs, for those who qualify. Swimmers are required to participate in at least two regular season meets, but encouraged to attend all. Swim meets are a lot of fun and give the swimmers a chance to measure how their hard work is paying off, as well as help the team! To qualify for a trophy, each swimmer must compete in two meets.
For each event, swimmers compete in divisions divided by gender, age, and one of three time standards: Gold, Silver, or Bronze. Swimmers are allowed to swim in up to four events and one relay per meet. Several days before each meet, your swimmer will be given a slip of paper by their coach indicating which events they feel the swimmer is ready to compete. Parents should sign their swimmers up no later than the end of Wednesday morning practice, the week of a meet. Swimmers should be signed up for each event they will swim. You may sign up using the Meet Sign-up Sheets at practice, by phone, or email.
Some swimmers will be selected for the team relays. The final relay assignments will be determined the day of the meet. If for some reason you need to leave a meet early, always check with a coach to make sure your swimmer is not signed up for a relay.
Points are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and, 3rd place at all three ability levels. Ribbons will be awarded for the top eight places for all three swimming levels. Ribbons will be placed in a file box at practice on each Tuesday following a meet. You may check your swimmer’s file for ribbons and other important information.
